AR Sushi (2020)
Made by Sasha Jiang, Ye Fu and Shiqi Dong
We made this augmented reality menu to explore ways of engaging with diners during the pandemic when no restaurants can offer dining in. Our solution was to create an interactive campaign for individual restaurants that can be customised with great freedom, and display food in real space, thus enabling a 'live' experience. In our example we made a sushi menu.
Printed as a traditional takeaway flier, the user simply scans the menu with a smartphone camera to see the digital content. The front page of the leaflet features flying sushi, to engage and entertain users. When they turn to the menu, all the dishes appear in hyperrealistic 3D models, floating atop of the plates. The user is also able to watch and listen to stories/content from the restaurant, and finally be directed to the restaurant's website/platform.
I was responsible for conceptualising the app, designing the experience and creating the animated models. This project was made in Unity.
