A Canterbury Pilgrimage (2021)

It is the year 1350. After 500 days of lockdown, things are finally looking a bit more normal. Sit back, relax, and follow the couch potato pilgrim's guide to Canterbury, featuring martyrs, confessions, blind horses, hardcore praying and every five miles a souvenir shop...

A Canterbury Pilgrimage is a short game inspired by manuscripts and allegorical pilgrimages of the Middle Ages, made at the cusp of lockdown being lifted. Having come across so many fascinating facts during my year studying medieval art, I wanted to created an entertaining experience rooted in historical accuracy. The cathedral and its different chapel functions are all based on research. (Even the half-blind horse has a base. The souvenir shop didn’t sell mugs just yet, but pilgrims did purchase a variety of souvenirs to bring home!)

I see my game as an experiment to bridge the gap between popular culture and academia, to present knowledge in an interactive and memorable way. I would love to see it being included in museum exhibitions.
